Areas which we cover in Gloucestershire
• Gloucester city and surrounding suburbs
• Cheltenham town centre and surround suburbs
• Stroud and surrounding villages
The northern range of the Cotswolds hills is home to many market towns including the two largest, Cheltenham and Stroud and the City of Gloucester, there being all but 10-15 miles between each other. The rolling hills of the Cotswolds holds many sleepy hamlets and villages whilst never being very far from a larger town.
Gloucester
Gloucester has always been known as a country town but with its location having national crossroads it has been able to expand through the centuries. Today, Gloucester is continues to be a growing city with plans in place for new developments within the city centre and docks area which are ongoing. In the last 15 years Gloucester has had continued its demand for new housing developments which have been expanding constantly out into the surrounding suburbs and also upwards within the city centre and docks area. With new businesses moving into the area setting up new offices, factories, headquarters and distribution centres it has seen the housing market show a continual growth. The M5 motorway almost cuts through the heart of Gloucester and with subsequent links to the M4, M50 and M42 it has provided a good accessible location for businesses. Gloucester has a population of 112k.
Properties within the Gloucester area consist of a mix of many Victorian inner city areas comprising of terraced houses interspersed with grander detached Victorian and Cotswold houses. In much of the surrounding suburban areas are 1930s,40s,50s and 60s properties which then flow outwards into the new built estates consisting of 1-4 bedroom homes.
Cheltenham
Cheltenham has always been known as a famous spa town growing onwards from the early 1700s. Being just 100 miles west of London it provided a retreat from the busy city. Located at the foot the northern range of the Cotswold Hills Cheltenham has a population of 112k. Good transport links, similar to those of Gloucester have kept Cheltenham a prosperous and expanding town with a high proportion of the population contributing towards the industries of finance, business and public sector work.
Properties within the Cheltenham area consist of a mix of Regency terraced houses in both the centre and the outskirts of the town. There are also areas of reclaimed local authority houses together with modern terraced, semi and detached properties.
Cheltenham is also home to many Regency flats and apartments being located very close to the centre. In the surrounding suburbs of Cheltenham can be found many 70s, 80s, 90s and onwards housing estates comprising of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom properties.
Stroud
The historic market town of Stroud lies 8 miles south of Gloucester and was built on the steep slopes of five valleys which provides spectacular countryside views. Stroud was formed with the growth of the wool and cloth trade from the 14th to the 19th century.
Stroud has grown over the years in both population and commercial sense with the promotion of new business and industrial parks. This has brought the construction of many new houses estates in the surrounding areas needed to accommodate the growth. In the recent downturn this has seen many of the large employers in the area struggle to keep their full workforces. However, they still remain as sound employment. Stroud has a population of 111k.
Property within the Stroud and surrounding areas consist of a mix of flats and apartments converted from the many historic mills lining the valleys, quaint Cotswold cottages, houses and terraces through to the many new build estates of 1-4 bedroom homes.
